“City Rock”

city wires now have a face
it’s boring
taking silence hostage
it’s a leper mask
ugly certain

darkness comes down
“you’re out there?”
who’s out there… we’re running together
past plastic people
bright priests
remembering how trees ate the city

but city wires
are stronger than branches
their silver cloth
is brighter than sun
it shines reflected light now
very dim and sorry

moon is the epicenter
motioned by cosmic hands
it’s where those wires start
doubled, pale
extended into space
like killer guitar strings
ripping the vulture guts
of rock
